When thinking about easy to take care of plants, especially indoors, dragon plants are one of the names that should instantly resonate in your head. Therefore, if you consider yourself a beginner and are searching for a plant to start your journey with, dragon trees might be one of your best options, however the sunlight must be kept in mind.

So, do dragon trees enjoy direct sunlight?

To answer this question very early in the article, the whole Dracaena family does not enjoy staying in direct sunlight, and that includes the dragon tree as well.

In fact, placing them for an extended period of time in direct sunlight can cause their leaves to sear, eventually ending your plant’s life, but do not concern yourself with this too much. As long as your dragon tree is not exposed to direct sunlight, especially for a long period of time, these plants are considered difficult to kill.

What is the preferred type of sunlight for the dragon tree plants?

The type of light that would greatly satisfy these plants and its family’s needs is indirect sunlight, which will offer them a sufficient amount of lighting to survive and grow properly without damaging them.

Therefore, the most recommended placement spots for them are the bathroom or the kitchen, which are not only low-light, yet sufficient, but also high in humidity which will help the plant thrive. But as long as you have a room with indirect sunlight and water your dragon tree once a week, the plant should be just fine.

As mentioned earlier, this plant is considered and picked by many for its ability to survive in a variety of conditions, which many plants would not. It is a perfect match for people that are very busy, but want a real plant in their home or are  just inexperienced with taking care of them.
